Finally recieved my Altamont checkered rosewood grips for my 617 today. I thought I'd share how pleased I am with the grips. They look beautiful, feel much better in my hand than the stock tupperware S&W grips, and fit the frame very well. Only downside was having to wait a month minus one day to recieve them.

If anyone is considering buying Altamont grips, I recommend them. I will definitely be buying a matching pair to put on my 686+.

Glad you're satisfied with those grips.

I didn't fare so well when contacting them for grips for a Single Action. I wanted oil finished solid walnut grips for a Single Action. No deal.

Altamont only produces laminated birch grips with the plasticized finish. Not what I'd want on a classic sixshooter!

Interesting.

Did they have what you wanted listed on their site? If not, can't blame them for not wanting to make something that isn't on the menu. It would kinda be like going to a steakhouse and trying to order lasagna. It may be a bummer that they don't have it, but you can't hold it against them for not making it for you.

I can see where you're coming from about wanting proper grips for a single action revolver, though.

I like Altamont grips and have/had multiple. Always been very pleased with them.

I prefer getting stocks from Ahrends however.
Although I found someone making very good copies of the old combats, and I would like to try a set.
