No he ment with a simple barrel change he could switch calibers.
Exactly.
I have a number of guns where a barrel change (some requiring a magazine change) will allow multi-caliber shooting. With my Glock 33 I can shoot .40 and .357 Sig and 9mm with barrel and magazine changes. With my Sig 2340 I can shoot either .40 or .357 Sig with the same magazine for both. With my Steyr M40A1 I could shoot .357 Sig with a .357 barrel, but I'm not sure whether it would require a mag change. I suspect that my HK USP full size and compact in .40 would both shoot .357 Sig with the proper barrel, but again I'm not sure about magazines.
As I'm both a .40 and .357 Sig fan the ability to easily change calibers between the two is a consideration for me. Being able to do a 9mm barrel is great to save $$ on ammo, but for reliability an extractor change is often necessary.
