I picked this LaserLyte up at a Sportman's Warehouse closing sale today for $90 for my XD .40 sub-compact. While I still plan on training 99% with iron sights, I like the idea of a laser if I have a night time encounter were I may not be able to see my sights.

I have not tried it at the range yet, but so far I like it. It fits securely to the rail like it was made for my gun (it was designed specifically for subs, the XD especially) almost like a factory add-on. The light is very bright in the dark and still visible in direct sunlight. This model defaults to straight line aim, but has adjustments for windage and elevation. I find the laser seems to be 1.5" below point of aim, which is fine by me. I'll let you all know how it does at the range.

Also, $90 beats the $350 of Crimson Trace any day. I also like that I can control when it is on/off. In some situations, I may not want my laser giving me away by simply gripping my gun (or killing my batteries).

I've been wanting to try a laser on my PF-9, how is the wieght of the laserlyte. I carry with a belt clip and have been reluctant to buy because I don't want to wear a holster. Can a flush screw be used instead of that hand tighten one in the photo?

Very nice sight!! I posted a question regarding Laserlyte V2 experience/quality in the firearms accessories section friday night, and nobody responded!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post a range report after you test it out. This may be the perfect cost vs. quality compromise I have been looking for (also looking at lasermax sights) for a compact laser sight for my baby eagle.

Can you tell me your initial impressions/complaints regarding initial quality?

Thanks!

Gimlet: I suppose a flush screw could be used, the difficulty would be finding one with an exceptionally flat head since I did not notice a recess in the receiving hole to allow it to sit flush. Also, the screw does not seem to be anything near standard, so my thinking is that a replacement would be difficult to find. The weight is essentially zero. I noticed absolutely no difference since I put it on, and I have been handling the XD frequently today.

Eggman: I will post a range report, but sadly, because of the holiday, I will not be able to try it out until next Saturday. Quality seems fairly good. I have heard reports of screw holes stripping, but I do not see that being a problem if you do not over tighten and are not removing the sight on a frequent basis. It has a one year warranty, so if anything goes wrong initially, I am covered.

also looking at lasermax sights

If you're interested in Lasermax, might want to sign up for their free e-mails and watch for a coupon? So far their e-mails have not been intrusive/annoying (can only remember getting 'em when they released something new or had a sale/coupon). I kept my eyes out for a coupon, and then did a web search for the cheapest price (the coupon could be used for purchase anywhere) and saved a bit of money (a little over $100 off MSRP if memory serves).

I'm also interested in hearing how the LaserLyte works out for ya.
I've got a LaserMax in the same gun you have, but did get one of LaserLyte's deluxe versions of their laser boresighter.

At little boresighter saved me a LOT of ammo by allowing me to zero all the toys on my ARs before I got to the range!

I have the bore sighter and like it as well. Bought it to zero a scope. Turned out the scope was a POS :banghead:, but I still use the sighter to check my irons for drift from time to time. That reminds me, I need a new scope! :D

Well, while that might be a nice temporary fix......it could be difficult to find a holster to fit it with that thing on there; that's one of the benefits of CT.

However, you did discover a cheaper way to test the concept of the CT grips to see if you like 'em; I do, and one of my CCW pieces wears a set at the moment.

To each their own.

Crimson Trace grips have specific places to be depressed for the light to come on. You have to intentionally activate the laser.

Another note; What kind of holster will you be using?
