Hi guys,

My main question is a complicated one since it has to do with vague mental health laws regarding firearms. Roughly 6 years ago when i was 18 the local sheriff took me for a emergency hold to a local hospital that transferred me to a real general hospital (live in rural midwest) for more of a observation evaluation, for whatever reason they wanted to send me to a real institution but a judge wanted to have a hearing first before i was sent to the institution. the judge released me (never ended up going to the institution) and was ordered for outpatient treatment, finished that (less than 6 months and just a regular shrink i guess) and never saw them again. i went to purchase a rifle a couple years later and was delayed and ended up waiting a month before i went back for my money so i never got a proceed or deny. Judgeing from above would i qualify as NOT being able to own firearms under federal law. from what i read in research i kinda do and i kinda dont. I want to excercise my rights as a american citizen and for the record i am a pretty average guy not a danger to myself or others.
This incident was 6 years ago in the state of Iowa

Thank you

You need to engage the services of an attorney, there is no other reasonable answer. Good luck.

Wolfman nailed it.
