AM15, not AR15

Yes, it is .22LR, it was made for riot use. If a prisoner got ahold of one, he would have a harder (not impossible, though) time killing an armored guard.

what the hell!? If I could A) afford the conversion parts I'd want it B) afford the ammo (yeah that many rounds, even if its .22's would probably wear my pocket out pretty quick!) C) Had the patients and thumbs to load the SOB! hehe sweet vid, looks like a lot of wholesome fun right there.

I can't imagine any prison in America turning a guard loose with that thing!

Collateral damage would be enormous, even if it is "just a .22"!

Maybe it's just gun-counter rumor, but I've been hearing for years about how the American 180 was used by prisons (I hear the same thing about the Remington model 8).

The Remington Model 8, and the 94 Winchester 30-30 were probably the most widely used prison-guard rifles of all time.
Throw in the GI surplus M-1 Carbine's & M-16's they got free and you probably about have it covered.

I still saw Leavenworth Federal prison guards walking the wall with 30-30's about 25 years ago.

The American 180?
Maybe, but they must not have been able to sell enough of them to prisons to break even & stay in business.

Sounds like the prison thing came from the American 180, which was sold in some numbers to several prisons.

The AM15 is just a conversion that lets you put a 22 caliber upper that can use American 180 magazines onto any AR-16 or M-16 lower. In the case of the latter, you can have a full auto 22 provided you already have an M16 lower.

The problem is, they are only making these for M16s and RDIAS. No semi-auto version, as far as I know.
