We had a great "Fun Shoot" and Swap meet today.

We had a block shoot, my and my son's first and an informal swap meet. It went so well that the club has decided to hold one every quarter
One of our outstanding members brought a smoked brisket and some bread and fed everyone who showed up fresh BBQ (I was one of the first in line )

If you are in Amarillo on September 8, our next meeting will be at 8:30am at the club on Line Ave, off Georgia Street. Come on by and join us. We will have another fun day tentatively scheduled for the first weekend in November.

If all goes as it did today, the block shoot will start about 9:30 or 10:00. Today we ambled over to the range after we all had a chance to look at each others things at the swap meet. Several people stayed at the swap meet while the rest of us went on over across the parking lot. Today the $2 entry just went back to the club, but we were talking about trying to make the next one into a fund raiser of some sort.

POKER SHOOT, Feb 2, 2008

I missed the last Fun shoot, in November (hunting season ) But the next fun shoot will be Saturday, Feb 2. We will be having a Poker Shoot, using the Poker target from the National Target Co.

$10 buys 5 targets, with 1/2 going to the club, and the rest going to the prizes.

We will start with 2 rounds of 5-shot Stud, targets at 4 yards, with a 20 second time limit

We then will move on to 8-shot draw (Best of 5 cards)

Follow this with a round of "Jacks or better" with the winners of this round competing with a single round of 5-shot stud

Ending with a round of "Pot Luck" or as I like to call it spray and pray , where we will put the targets at 7 yards and take the best of 8 shots

Each round will have 20 seconds of firing time, and the centerfire shooters will have an extra round, as a handicap against the .22 shooters

I think the shoot will begin about 10 am after the swap meet. We open all of our fun shoots to the public and have a real good time!
