Ok so I've been hearing a lot of chatter about a local store that's a gas station and pawn shop all in one, but it's not your usual shady shop, it was actually a really nice and friendly experience, and the staff was very knowledgeable, also for a pawn shop type place they had an amazing selection, you name it they had it just about,

But anywho onto my find, we were discussing some of the smaller pistols because my grandmother was wanting something smaller than my grandfathers 38 spl, so I'm looking at a good few 22's and 25's, and just as I'm about to leave the guy at the register tells the guy helping me to show me that old browning copy, I looked and it's a mid to early eighties psp25 (baby browning sub contracted copy) and he said it's 40$ as is,

I'm thinking hmm, I'm a decent tinkerer, for that price I'll get it

He said it cycles fine and feeds good and all but he can't get the trigger To work, I'm thinking this thing is so simple it can't be that bad

So I pay him and we continue talking long enough for me to get curious, I take it apart and find out the spring that the sear pushes on was just out of place,

On top of all this my grandmother decided o stick with the 38 afterall, I'll get pics up as soon as I can

Sorry for the wrong code at the bottom of that post, I'll just put up a direct link I guess

Also sorry for the non artistic-ness of the pics, I'll take good ones later down the rd

The Bauers I've shot were okay. The PSP was made in Charlottesville VA. They were nice guns.

John

edited to add:

These were almost a real FN product, the factory was even inspected by FN.

http://precisionsmallarms.com/history.aspx

(from near the bottom of the page)

"At about the same time FN received an offer from an American company, Precision Small Parts, Inc. of Charlottesville, Virginia, to purchase manufacture and sales rights for a version of the BABY to be made in this country. Agreement was reached for PSP to buy the remaining spare parts"

"First Article inspection was performed by FN personnel at the PSP plant in September 1987, with the first export expected that month. These pieces, which are being made in 6.35 caliber only, will carry Browning marked grips. Standard FN markings will be rolled on the sides, but the pistols will not be marked to indicate place of manufacture, nor will they carry Belgian proofs.

PSP expected to ship 1,000 pistols to FN by the end of the year, and to accelerate that schedule in 1988. "

And I imagine the PSA parts will fit, but call and ask if you end up needing some. There's a manual on their site and a schematic on the parts page.

You stole that gun. Way to go. John

P.S. - Now I remember, PSP was associated with KBI/Charles Daly in Harrisburg PA. Fwiw. It wasn't a flybynight outfit. Asking prices for a PSP are in the $300 - $325 range.

The guy told me if I didn't want it that he'd buy it back lol, I kinda like the little thing, I'm going to the range soon and I'll give him a try, definately underpowered but still kinda nice

Just wondering, I've heard the older ones aren't very safe to carry with one in the chamber, but this ones trigger mechanism and firing pin have a very deep lock on one another when cocked, so what would keep it from being safe? I mean to a degree all of them like this aren't super safe but still chamber and safety on seems ok

Congrats on a fantastic find at a truly incredible price! I picked this Baby Browning up about a week ago, but didn't get anywhere close to the deal that you got on your PSP-25. They really are an amazing piece of design engineering and manufacture.

Thanks for sharing your good fortune with us.
