I was recently shooting a Springfield XD supcompact in 9mm. I really loved the ambi mag release. It made dropping and changing clips much faster for me. I have slightly small hands. So, it can be hard for me to drop a mag with my right hand thumb. I usually have to tilt the gun and rotate my wrist.

An ambi release makes life so much easier it may become a deal breaker for future purchases of double or staggered magazine handguns.

So, which guns under $450 have an ambi mag release?

Didn't know the XD required clips. Thought the magazines were loaded by hand.
If you want an inexpensive 9mm Mac or .380 that is fantastic, look at the CZ-82 or -83. A really sweet gun.

The Ruger P95 has an ambidextrous mag release and it runs about $325 new.

If you read the whole post it was obviously an honest slip. Thank you for pointing it out. I am duly chastised and will never offend the nomenclature gods again.

Are you looking for a subcompact? If not, the FNP pistols are great guns and can be had for that price or less. Keep in mind the Walther PK-380 and the H&K guns with the trigger guard ambi release. Some hate 'em, some love 'em. The Walther goes for around $325. H&Ks will run a little over your $450.
