American Co. double barrel shotgun

Where can I find info about my old American Co. double barrel shotgun? It might be American Arms Co.

American Arms was an importing company. Brought in Spanish made guns from the now defunct conglomerate DIARM as well as from some other makers. Quality ranges from very good to mediocre. Any more info. on the gun? Pix, or a good description?

I think Crescent made guns with the name American Gun Co. on them nearly a century ago. Maybe I'll look it up if I ever get away from the phone here at the office.

Looks like it's a 'Knickerbocker.' I have one that I restored and still shoot. Mine is not as old as yours, but i figured mine to be +/- 105 years old. Mine has fluid steel barrels, barrel indicators(?), hammerless-sidelock, 12 ga.
Yours would be older. Mine may be worth a whopping $200.
Numrich Arms should be able to give you info, as would the guys at Gun Broker.
I had a copy of serial no's and dates of manufacture somewhere. If I find it I'll let you know.

That gun has macthing #'s on the reciver, barrel, and forearm, I halso have another gun just like that but it has a shorter barrel and it is missing the forearm, and it's rusted bad. That gun also has matching #'s on the barrel and reciver. How much do you think the gun in the pictures are worth? The gun in the pictures a friend of my dad's said that I could shot light loads out of it, but the stock is cracked in a couple spots close to the trigger.

I wouldn't shoot that one. I suspect that it has damascus (twist) barrels.
The gun may be worth about $200 to someone. check out the auctions at gunbroker, they'll give you an idea.

if it's american gun co then it's a folsom balt MD 1883

American arms started in MASS 1863,moved to Wisc 1898 then to ALA 1899 in1901 all assets bought by marlin moved to Conn.they made quality firearms of their time including two designed by GH Fox the first called Fox a swing out model the second a hammerless called the Whitmore.
