I know this has been beaten to death, but I'm just not clear on one thing. I just got my M1 rebarreled and need to break it in. I will be putting in an order of CMP Greek 30-06 ammo soon, but in the mean time, would like to use some commercial ammo to break in the barrel.

I see that a lot of people have used the American Eagle FMJ 150gr., but are you using the AE3006N, or AE3006M1? Some discussion threads are years old, so I assume it's the AE3006N, which is the only stuff we have available here in Hawaii.

Question is, can I use the AE3006N to break in the rifle? Or are the velocities (approx. 2900 vs. 2700) okay compared to the military surplus ammo? I plan on breaking in the barrel using 30-35 rounds.

Thanks!!
