Fed American Eagle in M1 Garand

I bought some of this Federal American Eagle AE3006N 150 grain FMJ boat tail 30-06 ammo.

Is this a M2 ball approximation and, therefore, acceptable to shoot through a M1 rifle or not?

My brother put one clip of this through my Winchester M1 yesterday and remarked that the recoil was a little different (sharper by just a little) than the Danish M2 we were shooting.

Any input? TIA.

Commercial ammo with 150 grain bullets should be fine. Just avoid the heavier bullets, over 165 gr. I guess the heavier bullets move slower, allowing more gas to push the operating rod, so the rod might bend.

Save the brass. Someday you'll start reloading, or go broke shooting commercial ammo.

I have personally shot a bunch of the American Eagle 150gr. through my M1. Results were excellent as far as accuracy and reliability. I have also heard that you should not shoot anything heavier than 165gr.

That particular load should be great for your M-1.

I had to learn the hard way about "NO bullet heavier than 165 Gr. in the M-1" You WILL damage the op-rod. A "buddy" convinced me that his 180-Gr handload would be the best round I ever fired.
