Sooooo I was at the local distributor of propoganda and right enlightenment (Barnes and Noble) when i saw this book on the shelf:
A Necessary Evil: A History of American Distrust of Government

Well this looks intersting I thought
A swift perusal revealed that the volume was nothing more than some "historian" trying to to convince the reader that we shouldn't distrust the government because the American tradition of government distrust is a contrived ficiton hoisted on us by groups (ie: NRA, GOP) who benefit from such views. The author's point seemed to be that we should embrace government because this whole distrust of tyrannical power thing is so pedestrian.

About the only thing he got right was that the militia did not win the Revolution all by themselves and that it took a professional army to do so.......of course he then lost all credibility by using that fact as a sedgeway into why the 2nd Amendment doesnt guarantee an individual right (using very very scant reasoning, ive seen better from high schoolers). The author followed this home run by citing Bellesiles (Mr. Researcho Falso) to prove there were very few guns at our nations founding.

Sorry for the rant guys and gals, I just get a little :fire: when I see attempts like this to rewrite history by claiming that the American Recolution was a secession and not what it was, a Revolution. I dont know what is more depressing, that people write this stuff or buy it. I suppose thats why we have 1A.

rant off

edit: mods please move to L&P if you feel it has a better home there

In the first place very few gun owners or "right wing" people are anti-govenment or
has promoted anarchy.

THe point we are trying to make is that no one can/should be trusted with govenment power.
Not only do I think all term limits should be set to one, but also all govenment agents shoulf have a limit to how many years they can work in govenment.
