Are there any firearms manufacturers within the United States that produce a 100% American-made AK-47? I mean one in which all parts; barrel, receiver, trunions, mechanisms, etc are completely fabricated and assembled by one company in the United States. If there aren't, is there a reason behind this?

Personally, I don't think so but I'm not 100% sure. I doubt it though. Maybe a parts kit exists?

There probably will be soon since parts kits can't be imported anymore, provided they could do it cheap enough to compete with Izhmash.

When you say parts kits what parts are you talking about? Also, with AKs approaching the price of ARs now I imagine they could be produced here for what the foreign ones cost as they were designed to be low cost.

I think it would be great if a company like Ruger or S&W would make a precision AK-47 with a nice thick milled stainless receiver, a heavy match-grade stainless barrel, and all other parts stainless too, plus the Tech-sight rear sight, Tapco SAW pistol grip and Tapco Galil foregrip, and a Vltor tele-stock tube with an M4 stock on it. It could come in a bead-blasted stainless finish as well as a black nitron finish.

There is a company right now, "Rhino Arms", making AR lower recievers. It says on their website that they plan on producing a fully American-made AK, but...who knows. I think their AR lowers look pretty sweet though.

Parts kits can still be imported, but must be sans barrel.
