Just curious, does anyone know a good vendor of "american-sized" WOOD stocks for the WASR? The LOP on mine seems....short, to say the least. And I'd rather avoid the "tacti-cool" setup, I like wood--but I would like to be able to shoot it without either A) burning my cheek on the dust cover or B) holding it 2-3" off my shoulder. Thanks!

This will be one of your best bets. Its a bit pricier, but VERY nice wood.

And it is US made furniture as well

I put a rubber 1" stock extension on a SAR-1 I had. It worked very nicely, and still allowed me access to the cleaning kit. I got mine here:

It's at they bottom of the page. It is a LOT cheaper than putting on a new set of Walnut furniture.

Good luck with it!

Those are "new", but are they any longer than the usual WASR stocks? That is the main issue. I would rather not have synthetic for a buttstock, but if that is what it comes down to.......

EDIT: wow, i'm stupid. Apparently, there's a selection of longer stocks on there.
anyone have any experience with this manufacturer?

With Ironwood Designs?

I don't have personal experience, but I do a LOT of forum reading. The company is top-notch and so is his product. I've spoken to him on the phone and if you tell him what you need, he can work with you.

Another options is to look up BattleRifleG3 on the Saiga Forums (See my links below.) He is a great guy and does quality work. If you tell him what you want, if can make it for you custom.

I was wondering the same thing myself...they do seem a little "short"...thanks for that link with the rubber stock extension!!

If you get one of the stocks 8ball, please post on the quality, how it fits, etc...:)

KVar has extended length stocks. You can get them up to 1.25" longer I believe....but maybe they can be had longer.

Check them out....I put a synthetic stock from them on my MAK and it worked very well.
