A friend just bought an American Tactical .45 Titan. I had never heard of it. It's made in Manila. Is this another brand name from Rock Island? Also ran across a 1911 called Metro which is also made in the Phillipine Islands. Three 1911 manufactures in such a small country seems a bit odd. Has anyone shot any of these?

Never shot any but the Rock Island 5" .45. Was actually a pretty nice shooter.
The ATI is a Shooter's Arms Manufacturing supplied weapon. Supposed to be a top seller in a lot of the Asian countries. I was actually looking into the blued Titan myself.
The Metro Arms is the maker of the American Classic line imported by Eagle Imports, the Bersa people. My local gunsmith absolutely recommends the American Classic as a "starter" 1911.

I have the ATI FX45GI- Commander length and recently picked up the Titan in blue. My Commander is over 1000 rounds and has been reliable and combat accurate. A great value for the money.

I have only had the Titan to the range one time and I am working through some reliabilty issues with it. Nothing that can't be fixed but the supplied recoil springs are the problem. I enjoy working on 1911's so it is a non-issue with me. I still feel it is well worth the money. There is a very informative thread on the Titan here http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=291804

The Phillipino gov't and Police Forces still use the 1911 so it isn't unusual that they have a good knowledge of them and are able to manufacture reliable and inexpensive firearms.

Dusty14U - Could you give more information on the problem(s) with the Titan recoil spring assembly ???

I just bought a Stainless Bull Barrel Titan 3" barrel ............ The workmanship on this particular 1911 compact is simply amazing. The fitment of the Slide and all of its parts fit like a glove. It is as good as any Wilson Combat 1911 that I have seen & held. The trigger break is like a glass rod breaking .........absolutely NO creep whatsoever !!!! The trigger pull is just under 4 lbs. !! I have not shot this pistol yet ..........can't wait to get to the range

But I will be very dissappointed if the pistol fails to perform ..........

I could use some advanced info. so I can be prepared for malfunctions

Thanks

JF.
