Ammo Cans

Google military surplus in your area. I have a local sporting goods store that has them stacked up as you come in the door, different sizes for different prices, I have to go pick one up for 7.62x39 since I added that caliber.

You arent too far from Canton. I drive down there to have a little fun shopping every few months. First monday of every month.

Used to be a lot better than it is now, but you find some cool stuff, lots of ammo cans. And a few vendors still trying to sell firearms for way too much to chuckle at. You do actually some times see a few long guns for good prices.

I buy ammo cans there just about every time i go. There are still plenty of tables set up selling lots of misc stuff and ammo cans.

Just keep an eye on your woman, the ladies tend to go crazy at the craft and "goodies" booths.

Surplus stores or gun shows are good. The cost of shipping makes online purchasing pretty much a non-starter. Of course I bid on and buy directly from the government in quantity and resell at gun shows. Anyone want to split 25 pallets of cans?

Our local Fleet Farm store has reasonably priced military surplus ammo cans. The .50 cal cans are just the right size, anything larger gets kind of heavy when full of bullets. They sell for $7-$8...

What do you plan on doing with them? (Other than the obvious ammo storage...)

One of my little hour projects I did on a rainy weekend here in the Old Dominion.

One of the last good deals at gun shows. I won't pay more than $5 for a 50 cal unless it looks brand new.

The last 50 cal can I bought at the local surplus store and paid $17.31 with tax for it. That's probably the last time I will buy one there. I think they run $12 or so at the gun shows and no tax.

Nothing beats gun shows and surplus marts. Shipping is a killer on mail ordering that much bulky steel stuff.

Again I live in Illinois. Everything is different here. I can get Ammo Cans shipped to me cheaper than at the Gun Shows here $12-$20 for 50 cals.
I get 9 50's shipped from Widners for $95 (73+shipping)....Gotta love Illinois. NOT:banghead:

Gun shows.

The last handful of ammo cans I bought were all from gun shows. Usually they want 5 bucks. Some guys want 10, but are usually easily talked down.

Some of the guys will even give you a can if you buy enough ammo or reloading components from them...

Animator, which one(s) do you seem to find them the most? Don't really remember seeing many recently, but then again I wasn't really looking for them then.

I buy ammo cans from Georgia Arms. They come with 500 rounds of ammo in each one.

Agreed.
If you're going to buy bulk ammo from any source get it shipped in an ammo can and kill 2 birds with one stone.

Strange. I found a very good deal on a batch of six ammo cans on the bay. Even considering shipping, the price was competitive with any local purchase.
