Anyone finding these fast twist barrels have a preference for a certain weight bullet? Seems once you go beyond 62 gr it's all match. I'm guessing 55 gr isn't going to shoot that well but haven't tried it yet.
It will shoot 55gr just fine. Remember non match out of the typical AR will be 1.5-4 MAO. You can find some heavier non-match, PVRI, at Aim Surplus when they have it in stock. You should try different weight, manufacturer, bullets to find which ammo your gun likes.
OP,
I've shot plenty of 40gr out of 1/7 with no problems or discernible loss of accuracy compared to the same ammo out of 1/9. This grain vs twist suddenly seems to be the hot topic. IMO, the quality of the ammo is far more important.
FWIW
YMMV
I'm probably speculating but my last .223 with 1-9 twist wouldn't shoot anything under 55 gr with much accuracy. You had to see it shoot the 69 gr to believe it. My guess is the 1-7 is going to like 65 gr to 80 gr.
Mine has a 1/8 twist and loves the 55gr. Your 1/7 will shoot 55gr just great. It will also shoot the heavier one for hunting just as great. You need to develop a load for your rifle particular likes...after all it is a 22 and all 22's are finicky eaters. You must realize when it comes to AR platforms the standard accuracy on this rifles regardless of cost or manufacturer, they are all 1.5 MOA or more at 100 yds.
