No factory loads that i can think of. The .223 is all about speed, in a super short barrel, u would probably have to handload with some faster burning powder. Just my .02

Hollowpoints won't work well? What about the 77gr. MK262 ammo? Supposedly it does well in short barrels.

In a 7.5" barrel, you're not going to get good terminal performance.

You're looking at 22mag performance pretty much.

They're a novelty for a reason, you're scubbing off way too much velocity going that short.

It depends on what you consider "satisfactory terminal performance".
Win White box does 2296 fps and Wolf does 2188fps from the Bushmaster.

I have several other factory loads but haven't chronographed them from the Bushmaster yet.

In comparison the WWB does 2514fps from the Kel Tec 11 inch barrel.

2300fps from a 7 inch barrel pistol is traveling but if you think FMJ won't do the job use 55+gr soft points.

I haven't had much luck in informal testing with the light 40-45gr JSP bullets. They tend to fragment and not penetrate.

These Remington 55gr .223 JSP were shot from my Kel Tec PLR at about 2300fps.
Don't buy into the hype that the .223 pistols are underpowered. I'm pretty sure that they would do the job, 30 times.:)
