I am appealing to all those, who have hunting ammo that they won't use, to sell it at a reasonable price, to those who are unemployed, underemployed, laid off. I recently sold a whole mess of 7mag Premium ammo at $22.00/box to a guy who really needed it. I challenge all those, fortunate enough to have a job, to forgo a few extra dollars to help someone else feed their family this winter. I would encourage those, who are hurting for hunting ammo, because of a lost job, to speak up. Maybe I or someone else can get you some ammo cheap, to fill your freezer this season.

If anyone within say 30 minutes of Topeka needs a box of hunting ammo send me a PM. I will gladly give you a box if needed not because you just want one. Anyway I have a box of .270, .308, .243, .300 win, I also would give a pack of 270 grain powerbelts 50 cal and a half box of 777 pellets. I was laid off for three months last year. Got laid off day before thanksgiving and times got tough for awhile.

mcGunner. Your point is..... if you really don't have anything to contribute, try this. Don't reply.
I don't know of ANYONE who would shoot someone else's handloads. so I'm glad you're not offering. But guessing that you're that kind of guy anyways....

I guess his point is a very very vaild one. I don't give any handloads to anyone to shoot in any gun that is not mine and in my presence. If Mcgunner like myself loads just a touch off the lands of one rifle. Slapping it into a diffrent make gun could be very bad. So boys and girls don't give away handloads or sell handloads its not worth the risk.

I can help out with a box of 30-06 or .270, within reasonable distance of Riverton, WY. These are factory loads. I wouldn't expect ANYONE to offer handloads, and don't know of ANYONE who would shoot someone else's handloads. Mute point. But somebody's always got to flame. Guess it be McGunner....

I applaud your compassion for those in need.....but the nature of the internet has led me to be skeptical of anyone claiming to be in need. I've seen it happen many times on other forums where the nice guys with good intentions become the fools. One case was a poster who claimed his son had been killed in Iraq and needed assistance for the family...turned out to be a hoax. Beware of internet pan handlers....you have no way to confirm they are what they say.

I think the person of which you speak is a rare type.

I would go one better; if there is any hungry person on the east side of Columbus, OH, send me your contact information and I will donate any game I shoot this fall in my local area to you (first come first served). You would, however, have to pick it up, butcher it, etc.

I've had nuisance permits and phone numbers of persons who supposedly wanted the meat. When the time came that there was a deer on the ground and work to do, all interest evaporated. One was a beautiful little buck taken with once shot through the lungs with a 222 with minimal meat damage but I had to bury the thing (after I had gone to the trouble to field dress it) because no one wanted it.

Yeah, it 's understandable to be skeptical of the internet. I just gave away 6 boxes of factory loads to unemployed/hours cut folks in PIF, on another forum. I can't worry too much about it. I believe they needed the ammo. So, out of fear of being "taken", folks won't even consider SELLING ammo for what they paid for it, instead of trying to scalp another hunter??? Cold blooded...consider, that in the past 2 years, loaded ammo has almost doubled in price.

Grumulkin, I know sevral folks who would have gladly dressed that buck and froze it for the winter, here in Riverton. We don't get many extra tags, and the hunting is in the mountains, miles away, so major expense for those hurtin'.

There's a guy on 24hourcampfire classifieds, that's selling 35Rem factory Core-lokts ammo for $20.00 box shipped. He's got 5 boxes., bought this year, wants to share. Good man for reasonable pricing.

Desperate times can lead to desperate measures. I often provide ammo to friends and family at no charge. Especially young folks with an interest and no cash to fuel it. I would be reluctant to start even a small/onetime mail order ammo business with strangers though, if for no other reason than the possible liability of it. Bearmgc it seems to me that you were rather harsh on MCGunner for simply making a statement. Now I don't personally know the man and maybe you do. But for a forum that is supposed to promote commaraderie and the sharing of knowledge. The way you Flamed him in posts #4 & #6 seemed uncalled for, and very Low Road

If anyone in the western UP is hurting for hunting ammo, give me a holler. We'll set something up so we can meet and you can load a box of 20 on my equipment/components.

I'll pony up a box of .243, .308, or 30.06 for a hunter in, or around Port St. Lucie , Fla. Not pick an choose, ya get what I got available. Been out of work since April-- don't mean I can't share.

If anyone has 6.5mm 140gr Hornady Spire Points or 9.3mm 286gr Nosler Partitions that they'd be willing to sell for a reasonable price, please PM me. I have powder, primers, and brass but no more of the projectiles. I've been out of work for 5 months so far this year, and the job that I thought would be a good possibility is looking less likely since my phone interview this afternoon.

If anyone needs 6.5x55 or 9.3x62mm brass, or CCI 200 large rifle primersI can spare some.

I have loaded ammo in various calibers for my friends. I load by the book. I have never had any complaints either. I would be hesitant to try hand loads from a complete stranger though. I have given some 30.06 loaded with 150 grain flat point gas checked lead bullets to a friend to try. He loved it! My hand loads are as good as any comm loads, and soom are even better. IMHO.

navaide.

hey guys i dont have anything to offer unfortunately being a poor college student but i could be worse off with a family and no work

i just wanted to say this is a great idea, thank you for your consideration and willingness to give to those in need and to help out the way our hobby looks to those looking in from the outside so to speak.

I really wish a good Samaritan would give me some .577 NE for my upcoming Tanzania trip[solids thank you]

BWAAAA, ha, ha! :D That's a good'n. Ya know, I've been broke. I've been out of work. Instead of hunting a box of ammo for free, or going to the woods hunting, I went job hunting. Seemed like a more productive use of my time. Don't know, YMMV. I mean, I've been laid off a couple of times and it sux. But, I didn't whine about it, I found another job. This recession ain't any worse than when I was laid off in '82. My last lay off was 6 years ago and I took the occasion to retire at age 51 and have been living fine since, not a lot of excess spending money now, but I keep myself in ammo fer Christ's sake! I have a little part time job and work on small engines for spending money and my mutual fund investments pay my bills every month. All I do now is hunt and fish. It's a great life! :D I didn't get here by whining and slacking and hunting and fishing when I shoulda been out lookin' for a job, I got here by working and saving.

Sorry if that sounds a little harsh. I'm not averse to giving what I can to charity, but I really prefer to give to the Light the Night foundation. Friends of mine lost a little 7 year old girl to Leukemia. Since then, I've given to them, attended one of their functions, and of course there's the NRA.

Anybody in the Riverton area that needs a box of hunting ammo, because they're unemployed, underemployed, or had hours cut, please PM me.

It's just simple logic. Hunting for your family requires a LOT of time and is not a guarantee. If you're out of work, you're far better off hunting for a job than meat. If you're THAT bad off, go to a food bank. I've given can goods on occasion to them. Heck, I'll GIVE ya some meat or take ya down and buy it at Walmart. Seems like a better thing than givin' ya ammo, keep your belly full while you look for work. Of course, around here, the best protein bet is fish and oysters. But, if you're out of work and so broke you can't buy a box of ammo, you'd better be job hunting, not deer hunting. JMHO of course, as one that's been there. It ain't the end of the world, trust me. I have, in the past, been so broke I used a .22 on rabbits because shotgun shells seemed like an extravagance. Believe me, I've been there. Don't give up, just knock on doors and don't be real picky if it don't meet your pay "requirements". Take what you can take till times get better, anyone that's looking for work, anyway.

I didn't flame you until I got flamed, if you can call it flaming. I'm really just trying to be logical here. Hey, if a friend needs some ammo, I'm only happy to oblige. I really never considered ammo as charity, though.

Things are different in different parts of the country. Around here, shooting a few deer can be done pretty cheaply. OTOH, I know a guy in Texas that isn't going hunting this year because he 'can't afford corn' for his feeder. We can shoot big Mulies within walking distance, and there are only so many places to look for work. I know people who have been promised jobs in the early spring, but have little income until then.

Well, down here, if you don't own land or lease it for 2K a gun, you don't hunt. I have some land and trap hogs. I keep the freezer stocked in winter. Fishing and waterfowl is the only really free hunting down here, if you can call a 120 bucks a year for a license and APR permit free. But, I mean, how much is a bullet? I mean, I ain't rich and I'm sitting here typing and looking at about 1K rounds on my book shelf assorted handgun, shotgun, and rifle loads and that don't count another 3 or 4 K of assorted handloads and milsurp stashed in other places. If all I had left was my 1700 rounds of SHTF 7.62x39 ammo, I'll kill something with it, FMJ or no.

But, if there weren't jobs where I was at, if I lived in Detroit or something, I'd move. I'd look elsewhere, out of state. Texas is running about 8 percent unemployment right now. Louisiana is less, I think. I know guys that moved down here from the rust belt in the early 80s for that reason. Gotta go where the money is unless you are retired and can go where you want. :D That's what kept me on the coast or I might have moved to New Mexico 35 years ago. LOL I mean, I love my duck hunting and I'd miss it, but they do have a lot of public land out there and lots of mulies. 51 percent of the state is public.

Anyway, I just think getting a job is priority. But, yeah, if you have mulies out your back door and can take one any time, that's a little different than Texas. In Texas, hunting is a sport, not a way to stay alive, and can be a rich man's sport at that.

I agree wholly, but here people are hiring or they aren't; there is no 'come back next week' stuff. Someone out of work would probably not be hassled about not having a license and a lot of people would give a family all they could eat in game, beef or garden stuff. It is just how it works here.
