To everyone who says there's an ammo shortage: Go to Cabela's in Hazelwood MO. I was there today and got some prices for y'all.

Magtech .308 150 gr. FMJBT: $33/50

S&B .308 147 gr. FMJ: $12/20

Black Hills .308 168 gr. BTHP: $20/20

American Eagle or S&B(pick one) .223 55 gr. FMJ: $7/20

S&B .45 ACP FMJ: $13/50

And there was tons of it.Boxes and boxes. I could've bought thousands of rounds if I wanted to.

It just ain't as cheap as it used to be. :(

I think when most people talk about an ammo shortage, they are talking about the lack of inexpensive ammo.

I'd be willing to bet the S&B .308 is the price for a box of 20, not 50.

No worries. That was for your own safety. Posting a price for .308 at $240/1000 could lead a frenzy that might destroy Hazelwood, MO as the .308 shooters descend on the Cabela's with hand trucks in tow. When they found out the price was really $600/1000, the mob would be after you next.

Not too long ago you could get 308 FMJ South African battle packs for $40/200 rounds... Supply and demand. If demand goes up but supply/output stays same, price skyrockets just as it's been doing. But as for the ammo shortage, there is one. I just went to Warners surplus but they could not sell me a case of 7.62x39 (AK/SKS ammo) because they were unable to get multiple cases from their supplier. Not too long ago you could buy the stuff in big ammo cans at your local gunshop...

The ammo shortage is in the domestic stuff. I have LE Agencies calling me every day looking for both duty and target ammo.

I have run out of places to send them. I just advise them to contact a box stores and see if the manager will make them a deal on what ever brand they can find. Duty ammo they are out of luck until next year. There is no distributor that has the quantity that the agencies need.

The surplus is running thin in a lot of places too.
7.62x54r is hard to find and the price has doubled in 6 mo.
Plenty of x39 if you can afford it.

With the current exchange rate, I look for all imported ammo to go up.
Never thought I'd live to see the US Dollar below the Canadian.

CMP has 30-06 Ball @ 254USD / 960RDS delivered, all you can afford. (Greek HXP) Works perfect in Garands, non corrosive and reloadable! Best deal going on ammo. They also have 768rds on enblock clips @ 237USD delivered. All this is in sealed spam cans.

Hotpig: Tell the cops to buy a nice Dillon reloader and start reloading their own practice ammunition.

Seven High

I love cops! They leave mass quantities of high-quality brass all over the range for me to pick up. :scrutiny::evil:
