Guys...(and gals)..

Can you give me your opinion on the quality of the following ammo:

Federal (purple box).....target ammo (.40SW) vs.
Winchester White box...target ammo (.40 SW)

which one shoots better (cleaner and with more consistent power level).

The reason I am asking is that I sometimes get FTF in my G27 with the federal brand. It's nice and cost effective at my local Walmart...even beating the WWB brand in price.

Never had a FTF with my carry ammo though.

(I really hate to think that its my shooting technique....)

So...in my state of denial....I'm suspecting that maybe its the ammo?

I have never seen purple boxed federal loads. How have you narrowed the cause of the malfunction down to ammo? I'm guessing you shoot more range ammo than target ammo, thats going to give you more opportunity for malfunctions. Try switching up mags. I believe both brands are excellent. Both are pretty clean, in my experience. WWB, Federal American Eagle, and CCI Blazer brass have all been great in the thousands of rounds I have shot. The only issue I have had was about 10 years ago with wwb 45 acp, I had one round that had to thick of a rim on the casing and the extractor wasn't able to extract the casing. In 10 yrs and probably 35,000+ rounds of ammo thats not too bad.

1. switch mags
2. have someone else shoot the gun....no one thinks they limpwrist.
