Loose ammo or in mags?

There's no restriction on loose ammo that I'm aware of... but NYS does require either compliant or verifably pre-ban high cap mags.

If you value your freedom, do not travel to NYC at any time for any reason. Unless you are movie star or something of the sort. Save the money and go somewhere else.

Well, knowing NYC ... if the find loose ammo they will likely tear apart what ever they find it in looking for a gun.

And no, they won't put it back together for you.

Don't risk it. in NYC you are not allowed to own ammo for a caliber of gun you don't own. seeing as you aren't a resident they can bust you for possession. BTW hollowpoints are ok in NYC

As per the New York City Administrative Code, possession of ammunition without a pistol license or rifle/shotgun license is a misdemeanor. Those in possession of such a license may only possess ammunition for a weapon which he is licensed to own. Possession in excess of a certain number of rounds requires the approval of the fire department and a physical inspection. At one time it was five hundred total rounds. Now, I believe, it's two hundred rounds.

Visiting NYC as a gunowner in your personal vehicle would require the same precautions as visiting Mexico: a thorough going over to ensure not only that there are no overlooked rounds of ammunition, but no empty casings.

Presence of ammunition would be assumed evidence of ammunition or gun trafficking.
