I doubt that I'll be hitting myself if this "shortage" were to come to a sudden end especially since I acquired the vast majority of what stocks I have well in advance of the "Obamanation".

Our "situation" can go one of two ways:

1. The "shortage" can end and I'll have ammunition

2. The "shortage" can continue and I'll have ammunition

In the long run, I'd rather be "stuck" with a lot more ammunition than I need, than not nearly enough at the current price structure.

While it is unfortunate that some got "caught with their pants down", it is just not something that concerns me that much.

I have stopped buying .22 since Bimart has been out of it for the last few weeks. $17 a brick for Rem GBs is already too much, but I'm definitely not going to buy them at S&M or other gun stores that are profiteering at 30+ dollars a brick.

For those of us in the Northwest, BiMart has instituted a two-box only policy. Part of this was due to someone coming into my local store and buying the entire shipment as it came in the loading dock. I don't know who to believe on the numbers, but I've heard as little as $2600 worth of ammo (he bought everything, regardless of caliber) to as much as $7500. Suddenly a few days later, someone showed up on a local online classified ad with ammo at grossly inflated prices. The official statement I got from the salesman (at a different store than the above mentioned), was that they are trying to build their stock back up. When I mentioned the above incident, he smiled and said that it had an effect.

Most here have a two box max, but it doesn't specify two boxes total or two boxes of a particular type/brand. One had a six box minimum per day max. Though I did run into one store with over 30 boxes of 100 round packs of 40 S&W so they must be getting something in at least.

Feeding Frenzy

I was fortunate enough to be at Bass Pro in Cincinnati yesterday when they were restocking their ammo shelves. I got a couple of boxes of 9mm's plus two bricks of .22's. Unfortunatly there were no .40's or small pistol primers(the reason I was there) The poor kid that was trying to put the stuff on the shelves finally gave up. People were picking up cases right from the skid. A great deal of it was bought by one guy who said he was going to take it to the gun show in Dayton and sell it for a "Big" profit. The guys that work there had told me this is what was happening but that was the first time I got to experiance it first hand.

On a different note. A man was at the counter looking at a SIG .45. He told the salesman he was thinking about it and took a step back. In that second another man said ''I'll take it" to the salesman. I thought a fist fight was going to break out between the two customers. Apparently it was the last of that particular model SIG. I didnt wait around to see how it was settled but all in all it was a very entertaining afternoon:D

Yep! the times they are a changing:what::neener:

Considering how many folks have gone completely crazy around here, everyone is now going to believe their ammo is worth $1k per shot.

I have pulled out of all FTF gun buying/trading because all the local gomers have seen their gun at a shop or on the net for 4X what it was worth 6 months ago, so believe it is now worth 6X.

A guy was trying to sell his SKS to a friend for $650 because he saw one on the wall at a local gun dealer for the price. Sadly even when they hysteria dies down it will be a LONG time before a lot of them ever think their guns might be worth less.

OH, i buy, i buy! (or is it i sell, i sell! ?) That there is funny, think i can sell the only round of .45 i have for that much? Sure, it makes my collection one round smaller, but i am sure some not so smart guy will come along and sell me one for $900 or so, i still make a lot. :D:D:D:D

I wonder if he'd trade it for a .380acp JHP. I have a couple and am willing to trade one in order to diversify.

LOL!

Daffy Duck just came to mind.

MINE MINE MINE IT'S ALL MINE!

:D

I suppose with our recent ammo situation "That's all Folks" would also be appropiate.

Looney Toons are timeless.

thanks SaxonPig, for making my day
AND for illustrating the utter insanity that has gripped so many in our little corner of the world

here's hoping you get many 'views', but no bids

I first thought it was one of some commercially reloaded ammo a buddy gave me years ago but the case looks military and has a sealed primer so it might be a mil-surp round built to genuine gov't specifications.

AM I a jerk?

so... everyone knows the ammo shortage we're in right now...

I have been wanting to buy some 38 special or 357 mag for a little while now...

The other day I bought two boxes of 380 (that's all the store would sell per person), and I don't have a 380... in hopes for a trade.

I don't reload either, but I found a place that has small rifle, large rifle, and pistol primers for sale.... am I a jerk if I go buy all the primers I can to try and swap for what I need?

I'm nto even trying to turn a profit... just trying to get what I need!!! :cuss::cuss:

If you've gotta ask, the answer is generally yes.

Just send me the primers and .380 and all will be forgiven. I'll even post on THR you're a really nice fella!

LOL.... thanks?

this is getting frustrating though... it's like the end of times just trying to get a couple boxes of bullets for my pistol
