That's why I haven't pursued a Ruger LCP or KelTec P3AT. Great mousegun...if you like $300 paperweights.

Heck, neither of them would make a good paperweight - not heavy enough...

If you do a little searching here you'll find that the shortage of .380 is primarily due to the production lines at the factories that make it haven't been converted from 9mm to .380 production yet.

Yes, the demand for .380 in the US is small enough that it is produced on the 9mm lines when the lines are not too busy producing 9mm.

So, high 9mm demand means the lines are running continuously producing it and reset to produce .380 isn't desirable, yet, to the manufactuers.

When 9mm becomes plentiful again you'll see .380 again.

Tamlin you got that right I don't mind supporting the good local M&P's so they don't go the way of the dinosaurs but I refuse to pay twice the price just because I need some ammo for a new gun and can't find it anywhere. That's why it feels like rape when the only option is twice the price because you have no other choice. But we have the choice to wait and find it sooner or later.

the price is forcing me to buy from Sportsman's

Wrong again. No one is FORCING YOU to do anything. What is so hard to understand? You choose not to pay their price. It is YOUR CHOICE! No force involved.

I found some .380 at a gunstore. They had it priced at $99.99 for a box of 50 FMJs.

I hope that is a double tap!

Holly Cow I bought a box of Winchester 38+P 125's today at wollyworld.
I was in there to pick up meds for the ole lady and they had 1 box, the girl said they put 5 box's out at 11am and I was there at 1:30.

They had to twist my arm to buy it tho.

In the Shotgun News I got today I think it was J&G advertising Aguila 380 FMJ at $14.95 a box of 50. The other brands were still listed as "Call" but this had a price on it so I assume they have it in stock.

There was no shortage of .380 until the purchases of Ruger's LCP and KTs went through the roof. I would guess a few million units needed feeding.

I just went to Jax; A sporting store in Colorado. They had Ultramax 45acp 230 grain; box of 250 round bulk; for $75. ($15 a box of 50). They also had more 40sw that anyone could want. Literally 10+ cases. 223 and 9mm were also plentiful. At our local stores, there's just about every caliber available between them. The 380 is a little expensive because the distributors are also raping the Mom and Pop stores. The 380 auto magtech was about $32 a box of 50. The ONLY place that I've seen locally that was RAPING anyone was SportsAuthority. The same exact WhiteBox winchester 45acp fmj was TWICE the price as walmart. I can see a M&P being considerably higher priced. They don't have the buying power. But SportsAuthority has some decent bulk buying power. They don't need to be twice the price. Anyway, I don't shop there any longer. But the rest seem somewhat reasonable. Ammobank had some in stock a couple days ago; my friend ordered some. I won't pay the $39 a box however. (That include shipping if you buy at least 10 boxes). 1 single box would cost about $47 because of shipping. I've definitely see a lot more ammo on the market, on the net, in the stores, and at the gun shows. Except for the 380 auto; most seems to also be stabilizing or coming down in price. Especially 9mm, 40sw, and 45acp.

I went to Wal Mart today (Corpus Christi, TX) and they had about 20 boxes of 9mm (blazer brass) and 10 boxes of .40 sandw

Sadly, there was no .45acp to be had.

They did however, have a lot of .38 special .223, .308 and a lot of other stuff I haven't seen in a loooooong time.

There was a bunch of those awesome .22lr Federal value packs for only $14.

Win.

What are you talking about? All the federal champion I bought from Wal Mart is FMJ.

The Federal that I bought yesterday is Copper Jacketed HP.

Strange. Did it come in the light blue and white bulk box? This is the stuff I purchased a couple months ago and it was not copper washed. Since then I've been using the Federal American Eagle (red box with eagle) instead, because it is copper washed.

Forgive me I was talking about Federal Champion 9mm which is FMJ. Still copper wash and lead aint bad for .22

Woot. Called around my local walmarts last night, found one unloading a pallet of ammo. Picked up 4 boxes of Federal .45 for Thursday's range trip at $15 each!

Now I just need to source some .22 ammo, which is damn scarce. Even my local kmart's out, and I thought that was a well-kept secret. Someone went in and bought all 20 boxes the day they stocked it, only thing I can find locally are CCI mini mags at huge prices.

tkopp what do you call huge prices

for CCI Mini-Mag, just curious? Here the Mini-Mags are $6.99 for 100 rd plastic box plus tax but there isone gun shop 25 miles away asking 9.89. Here in town the Winchester equivalent must be the Win Xpert at some price...solid nose, copper washed, etc. I have getting both of those pretty easily. I am in Eastern Iowa...please relate location. Thanks
