The time is almost here-- I will soon be the proud owner of an AR-15 (and a neat .22 if all goes well). Then after that, the .308 bolt gun. I had some questions about ammo prices.
I was checking out .223 and .308 ammo on Midway USA. For casual plinking, I was just looking at the cheapest ammo I can get (which is reloadable, that means brass case and 'boxer' primed??).
What I found (ALL FMJ):
.223:
-Federal American Eagle 55 gr - $130/500 (.26/round)
-Fiocchi Shooting Dynamics 55gr -$250/1000(.25/round)
-Remington 55 gr VMC -$52/200 (.26/round)
______
.308
-Federal American Eagle 150 gr -$280/500 (.56/round)
-Remington UMC 150 gr -$109/200 (.54/round)
-Winchester USA 147 gr -$100/200 (.54/round)
_____
Are those good prices? Like I said, this is just for informal paper punching.
Has anyone had experience with any of these? Any other suggestions?
Thanks
