Ammo stock pile

Ammo stockpile? I'm missing about 10,000 rounds of 22LR at the moment. Can't find the ammo cans. I believe it's time for a house cleaning, especially closets. :) In my search, I found about 250 rounds of 41 mag that I didn't know I had.

Buying in smaller quantities is good for the local shops as they see their stock sell on a regular basis and will continue to order more as opposed to a customer walking in and buying out the store on a particular brand or caliber.

Hello, My name is Ed. I hoard ammo. I have a problem. (or however it goes)
My true problem is that I buy ammo, put it away, don't shoot it or at least not much of it. If I shoot it, then I won't have it. I have been this way since I was a kid. If I had a box of .22's, I would count them, hold them, count them again, but not shoot all of them because if I did, I then would not have them. I need to inventory what I have hoarded. I know I have a bunch of '06 in both surplus, factory loads and hand loaded but I don't shoot or hunt with highpower any more. I hunt with traditional BP. I have a bunch of match 7.62 but if I shot it, then I would not have it. Hell, I have lots of different ammo that is still in collectable boxes from 40-50 years ago.

If you shoot them you won't have them but you will "have had" them which may be as good or better. Look at it this way, as you draw your last breath which will you regret most - the ones you shot or the ones you didn't?

be a lot cheaper to buy by the case. If you have to charge it, use a low interest, or zero interest card, and go at it.
Oh people you're killing me, don't buy ammo on credit to save money please :D

Sometimes

Well, it doesn't always work out.

Today I wuz over to Wally World, and they had cases of .223 (Federal, JHP) for not too bad money.

Called wifey for clearance. Rats. Got too many bills just now.

*Sigh*

So my lunch money picked up a couple boxes of Blazer Brass in .40 S&W instead.

I guess it's bagels and jerky for a couple of days.

I have a triangular closet with shelves that was useless due to it's shape until I realized that tins of surplus ammo, and crates fit it nice. And smaller boxes can be stored around it. ATM it's 80% full but I can't bring myself to pay so much for surplus. At this rate casting my own bullets and reloading will be cheaper than shooting surplus. It already is for some calibers. I use the same method for buying reloading equipment. That way brass, bullets, dies, etc. for a new caliber won't hurt so much.

I definetly buy more ammo then I shoot :( so it begining to pile up. There is a dedicated spot in my garage for it. I hope a hot garage doesn't have any negative effects on ammo:uhoh:. I need more of the big ammo cans.

I'm going to get a few cans from M&I surplus in Pomona in a few weeks. If you want some let me know(dumdum303). I think my ammo is going to move to a new location that's easier to get to, and putting it in those cans will really make it easier. I'll have fun patching up all the little air holes. MAPP gas and brass will do a decent job. Some paint too. Might as well make them look nice.
