I bought a Dan Wesson model 15 no dashes 4" .357, this is my first .357
so any advice would be helpful. My intent is to have my wife as the primary user
and I would like to start her off with .38 ammo first than move up to .357 ammo. The revolver should be here within two weeks.
Thanks

Well first, S&W has nothing at all to do with a Dan Wesson.

A S&W Model 15 is a .38 Special.
A Dan Wesson Model 15 is a .357 Magnum.

Any brand name .38 Spl 148 grain wad-cutter target ammo is the lightest recoiling load there is.

125 grain Cowboy action ammo is also pretty soft shooting stuff.

Next up is standard power 158 grain .38 SPl.
And then +P .38 Spl.

Moving to .357, Remington offers a Golden Saber load that isn't as hot as normal .357 and would be a good step up from .38 Spl. +P loads.

Many consider the .357 125 grain JHP load to be the best SD ammo.

BTW: If you shoot .38 Spl in a .357 Mag gun, you need to clean the chambers very througly with a bronze bore brush to get all the short case fouling out before firing full length .357.

What RC said. You can not understate the cleaning when shooting .38spl in the .357 chamber.

I really appreciate all the replies and helpful advice. I apologize for the topic error mixing S&W with a Dan Wesson revolver.
