I just came by another Glock 30 (got rid of my last one and regretted it). I plan to make this my main carry piece. I've heard the 230 gr. is a little wasteful/overkill out of such a short barrel. Given this, what JHP round would you choose for a subcompact .45 such as the g30?

My G30 didn't like JHPs with a truncated cone (straight-sided) profile. I like the Winchester Silvertip 185-gr. load - it feeds reliably, is a little milder in recoil, steps out a little faster from short barrels and should be effective enough on the business end.

thanks! do you have any other examples of similar bullets? I've NEVER seen the Winchesters you speak of in stores around here. The only thing I ever shot out of my g30 was fmj, so I have some narrowing down to do and then some range time.

The 230 grainers should be closer to their intended velocities from a short barrel than lighter loads.(except ammo intended for short barrels, like the Speer short barrel load)
Mine only ran 100% with ball or ball shaped hollow points.

i'm carrying speer gold dot's 230gr short barrel in my 30, my second choice would be remington golden sabers.

DoubleTap 185s or 200s is what I carry. Shoot great and are gold dot bullets but cheaper and faster. Have had 0 feeding problems.
