Ammunition has changed my mind... has it changed yours?

nope,

I bought a 9mm pocket gun and bought a couple of boxes of factory ammo for it, needed the brass. that was the first box I have bought in ...well as long as I can remeber. I have hand rolled my own, always have always will. My currant consumption of 45 apc is 200 per week, my wife shoots 100 of 40 s&w per week. reloading supplies are good and should see us though the summer. I expect by then primers will be once again easy to find. We also have around 3000 .223 loaded and ready to go. Only have around 500 12 ga. loaded up that should do for now :)

No, I don't choose my firearms based on the temporary availability or scarcity of ammunition. That is a consumable product, I consider firearms long term assets.

I think acquiring ammunition supplies as finances and availabilty permit is a better option.

As an example, .22LR is pretty much available now, but I wouldn't purchase a firearm simply based on that. If I felt I needed or wanted something for a different purpose or function, I wouldn't feel compelled to buy a .22.

NO I refuse to let ammo hoarders influence my decision. I do what I want and shoot whatever caliber I want.

guess I am lucky not to have any issues finding .223 ammunition... I love shooting my AR... it has discouraged some other purchases, or rather overzealous range time... so, that is frustrating, but it is cool... I still have ammo (though some minimal) for all of my guns..

To be honest I have been shooting some of my older guns more often here lately. I did find out about a week ago that I have some bad 7.5 French ammo for my French MAS, but I also found out how good it shoots with good ammo. I have been getting out some of my old military surplus guns and shooting them, mostly to make sure they function well.

As for new guns, I have enough ammo to last me a while in any caliber I would want to shoot.

I have had an ar for years (since 16) so the only thing that changed when
.223 became pricey and scarce, was my opinion of reloading. I still buy factory rounds from time to time but I am alot more comfortable with the ammo situation since reloading. I even bought me a .223 bolt gun last week.
