recently noticed somthing lower grain shells seem to posses a higher feet per second number than higher shells.
1. why is this
2. is it something i should be paying attention to
3. should i buy higher grain shells with less fps or lower grain shells with a higher fps
just wanna say im a new member love the site, love the people, and love that there is a site where i can find it all in one place.
thanks for any advice

1. Lighter weight, more zip out the barrel. Also loses energy quicker. Throw a really big rock sometime...doesn't get far, does it? Lighter rock, much more distance and speed.
2. For range use, not really. Self defense, possibly as lighter bullets *can* penetrate less.
3. Depends on it's intended purpose. Self defense, hunting, range...?
