Ammunition Shortage - My Solution

Hoarding is always "the other guy"......

MrWesson I know people who have 20,000+ rounds of .22.

8,000 rounds of 9mm and .223.

I consider them hoarders.

I'd say if you buy 4 value packs of whatever you shoot whenever you see it regardless of how much you have at home.. hoarder.

The guy who has 200rds per caliber is barely scraping by IMO. bump that up to 2,000 and....
I strongly disagree. If those people you know are active in the shooting sports.....thats simply being prepared.

For a guy who shoots 2,000 rounds of .22 a month (one brick a week).....20,000 rounds isn't anything close to hoarding. He's being prepared for the next run on ammunition.

Same with the 9mm and .223............8,000 rounds is a good start.

I've watched them go from 5k to 10k to 15 and so on.

Simply not shooting much just obsessed with having hoard to call on because he believes it will dry up forever and wants to be set for life.

I just came back from a hiatus but when I left I was shooting 1000 plus rounds for uspsa per month along with 2k per .22 a month for bullseye.

I dont stock up I load as I need it I have components to make it and do so as I see fit.

Those hoarders I have called out isn't meant to be derogative.. I think they have it right.. buy now, buy cheap(cheaper) buy everything you can until forever and pass it to your new shooter grandkids who cant buy any because you beat them to wally world or the local gun shop.

To those who want to buy/shoot buy/shoot you better hop on board or hop off.

And if he IS "hoarding", what difference does that make to you or I?

There was a period of time for a few years when I rarely went out shooting. However, every time I went to Walmart I'd walk by the sporting goods section and pick up either a box of .45 acp WWB or one or two boxes of 9mm WWB. (Back when they were $19.95 and $9.95, respectively). I'd only spend $10 or $20 bucks at a time doing that.

Took them home and added them to my ammo cans.

Did this for a few years and built up a nice stock.

Does THAT make me a "hoarder"?

How about a guy who reloads and has tens of thousands of rounds...does THAT make him a "hoarder"?

What is it about hoarding that makes it bad? The fact that YOU don't have tens of thousand of rounds of ammunition?

Next think you know you'll be on the side of the people who want to limit how many and what kind of various given products I wish to buy.

"You can't have that 500 HP car! Who needs that much power?"

"You can't buy more than one gun a month! Who needs to buy that many guns?"

"You can't buy that much gas every week! Who needs all that fuel?"

"You can't buy that many stocks! Who needs all that wealth from capital gains and dividends?"

Buy what you want, when you want it. And leave others to do the same.
