I have a Hardballer but don't know the type of stainless steel they used. I do know that it is the most accurate .45 out of the 4 I have. Two of the 4 are Colts.
I don't know if it's the same steel, but I had a stainless AMT DAO .380 I carried for a while... the slide cracked under the ejection port. I didn't think much of that, and when I got it back from AMT, it disappeared.
Harry Sanford was partial to 17-4PH stainless for the AMT pistols. I have several AMT pistols, and had never had any galling problems with modern gun lubes.
