AMT Titan 3"

I own a Titan and I am willing to share my experience with this officers sized gun.
First off I like the fit and finish of the gun, slide to frame is very tight, the feel of the gun in your hand is a good fit as well. I have large hands and can hold this small gun well.
It is a very accurate shooter, recoil is minimal, slight barrel flip, easy to get back on target.

The bad... Recoil assembly is junk, the reverse plug will crack, the guide rod will fall apart on you. The best advise is to throw it out and replace it with a Kimber Ultra or Colt Defender recoil assembly. Mine also ejected spent casing right into my face....Thats aggravating let me tell you! I switch out the ejector and extractor with Ed Brown heavy duty extractor and extended ejector, then finished it out with a Ed Brown firing pin stop.
That solved my problem once both were tuned. The factory extractor and ejector appear to be made out of soft material that mushrooms or distorts after a few 100 rounds.

While replacing all these parts I removed the tooling marks and smoothed out the frame rails then polished them, I also polished the trigger, sear, disconnector, and hammer. I didnt file or grind on them just polished them to make them smooth.

Let me tell you, that was time well spent! Now all I need to do is refinish it to something I like better than parkerizing. After all this work I have shot 300-400 rounds through it without any issue, I love shooting this little gun!
Considering I got it in trade for a Walther P22 I couldnt be more pleased!

Do you mean ATI Titan? Officers sized 1911?

If that is what you mean then my experience has been much like jtsteiarts. I knew it going into it so I upgraded a few items, namely the recoil spring assembly and it is good to go. Very reliable and accurate firearm. I also own a commander sized ATI and I haven't had to do anything to that except put ammo in it and pull th trigger.

Heck if I know. Dude has it listed as an amt in his add. So yall are telling me that without upgrading stuff it is a p.o.s.?

The gun is extremely well made except for the recoil assembly. Some peoples work well for a while but it was the weak link of the gun. It cost a whopping $26 to "upgrade" mine. When I consider what I paid for the gun to what I got I am well ahead of the curve. I am a machinist and Engineer by trade and love working on machines so this was a no brainer for me as well as many others.

1911.com has many threads on the gun and its very imformative. If you aren't mechanically inclined I would pass on the gun but many like myself like to work on getting them to run, and run well.

Got mine - a Citadel (which I think is the same gun with a different name from the same company) for $425 lightly used. ATI, Citadel, Rock Island... aren't they all the same company from the Phillapines?

I've shot about 100 rounds (random mix of HP and JHP, random variety of magazines) through it without issues. Fit and finish and feel is high quality and tight. Reliable and fairly accurate at 15'. I'm pleased with it.

Isn't one of them made in Turkiye?

No, Citadel and Rock Island are made by Armscor, and the ATI 1911's are made by SAM (Shooters Arms Manufacturing). The American Classic II is another from the Phillapines, but is made by another company, Metro Arms. They sure do make good 1911's for the $ over there!

If you can get an otherwise good gun, and fix its known issues cheaply and permanently, I'd say go for it. It was the same for me with my P-64. I bought it knowing I'd need to put better springs in it, and knowing what it would cost. It was a cheap, easy fix, and gave me a gun I trust my life to.

Arcadia Machine & Tool, AMT is a different company (now defunct) than ATI, Advanced Tactical Industries. AMT produced the Auto Mag and/or Automag (depending on time frame) and is at present rolled into the collective company representing themselves as "High Standard". They have several pistols made in the PI by Armscor but do not make a Titan. ATI however does import such a model from SAM, another Phillipino company. I would avoid seeking a problem pistol. Thinking a firearm breaking parts is a fun opportunity is akin to Russian Roulette with an auto-loader in my book. Just my opinion.

ATI=American Tactical Imports.
I have their commander and love it. I need to replace the ejector. It's soft. Too bad I can't get the pin out. I guess I need to take it to a smith.

ATI makes a fine 1911 in 5" and 4.25". The best fit-n-finished Filipino value 1911 IMO. However, I've seen at least one Titan with the recoil rod end broken off. Not great, but nothing more money can't fix.
