You have to admire the Soviets for fielding the AK74 twelve years before its introduction, but they should have instructed their troops that it's acceptable to take the rifle off "safe" during a firefight.

The extremely rare, cumbersome, and outright dangerous M60/RPG-7. Better make sure the first round in that belt is a blank!

The first one is relatively subtle, but I can't help but think that even many people otherwise uninterested in guns would notice the absurdity of the second. Anyone got any others?

Didn't know the Russians made lefty Mosins ...

Hard to see at that size, but the guy on the left has a Beretta M9, or did in the original theater release poster. I didn't know they had those in WWII! :D

The guy in front is also charging with a covered bayonet, not sure if that was usually the case...?
The one being waved triumphantly with the heavy Garand in one hand is uncovered, though, so if he fumbles it, it'd be more likely to stick the poor guy with the M9.

Good ones! Yes, the Soviet Union made lefty M91/38s during WWII, they were very accomodating to the individual requirements of their troops when it came to personal weapons. As for the "Great Raid" poster, it's actually a forced-perspective shot of a dwarf holding a Beretta 34. :D

you think those are bad play the black video game. for a game thats supposed to ba all about guns its got left hand cocking AK's and im pretty sure a side cock M16 w/o forward assist. though i may be confusing that, i havnt played the game in a while

oh and a walther 2000 sniper rifle with a forward magazine, instead of bull pup style

I remember the HK catalog (2005 I think it was) where the first run of the catalog for the year, the bullets were backwards in the handgun magazine. Someone really messed up there.

Opps, not illustration, but I figured I'd leave his up anyways. I know, it's a photo illustration.

If you play Battlefield 1941, the engineers carry the Garand (the American's of course); however, the charging handle is on the left side. The guy even loads it left handed!
Course they did do a decent job of getting the right timber for the shot and, of course, the ping! So I have to play engineer just for that.

It's not completely realistic unless they let you get a virtual M-1 Thumb.

There was some cheesy vampire novel in which the character on the front cover had the Battle Rifle from Halo 2 instead of any real gun. I thought that was pretty funny.

LOL, funny stuff. The last one though... what the hell is that abomination supposed to be? Did the "artist" just forget the grip?

It's to make the book legal to sell in states with an Assault Book Ban. :)
(Afterall, wasn't the ban about how stuff appeared?)

haha i have that book and it always bugged me. though couldnt it be a saiga with a 30 rounder jammed in it/ thats probibly what the artist was given as a model

They are made.

The Great Raid Promo stuff with that pic was a hoot. Nobody else at work even noticed it (well, it is Wally World ;) ) even the gunnies I shoot with. The Left Handed Mosin PU gets mentioned anew on The Russian Mosin Nagant Forum every now and again.

Can someone please tell me what the hell Michael Douglas thinks he's doing with that grip?

Well he is keeping his finger off the trigger....;)

If I had a dollar for every stupid movie poster where they mirror imaged a gun I'd be a wealthy man.

Just goes to show that too many graphic designers for the movie industry don't know squat about guns (or care).

I can't believe that HK catalog
IIRC the error was discovered when the catalog was debut at the SHOT show. Talk about embarrassing :p

Thats why you don't leave the photographer alone with the guns (or you hire Oleg).
