A week or so ago a new Gander Mountain opened about a half hour from home. So tonight the wife and I were in the area and I stopped in to look around. I fondled a couple of shotguns that I would like ot have but could get cheaper elsewhere. I looked at some handguns that didn't really excite me. There were only a few things really worth mentioning. They had nearly an entire case filled with used Sigs. I was shocked to see they wanted only $479 for them (20, 226, 229, and maybe a 228). Nearly all of them looked to be in excellent condition some with night sites. They also had a hand full of used glocks for $399 which was an OK price but they didn't to be as nice as the sigs. Then I stumbled across the find of a lifetime. A used Mosin Nagant rifle for the low low price of $250. It was in decent shape but who are they trying to fool. You can drive less than a hour to Aim Surplus and get one for $69.99.
For the most part it ws exactly what I had expected...not so great service, average to slightly high prices, but a nice selction of things to handle.
I did get a laugh out of a coupel there looking at smaller semi-autos for the wife as a CCW weapon. They has some interest in .380's because the husband was thought he could fire his .38 special ammo for his revolver for it. Fortunately the staff set him straight and showed him a nice Bersa Thunder and pushed for what the wife wanted which was a nice wheel gun now a semi-auto in .40 S&W.
