i had a good time!

so i just bought a colt-walther 1911-22. i have always wanted a 1911, never fired one before today, but by golly we know this is the gun that won 2 world wars and that tunnel rats carried in Vietnam and i just had to have one. but, uh, mine's a 22. i also took my SW model 65.

we were shooting at small plastic junk stuff we found and also a couple of small propane tanks. from a range of about 15 feet. we were hoping the propane tanks would explode, but alas, they were too old. when i started, i couldn't hit spit. it has been about 7 years since i fired any kind of firearm. about halfway through the afternoon i felt my hands waking up. for real. i suddenly could hold it right and hit the target more often.

with the colt-walther, i first shot 10 rounds of CCI mini mag which did exactly what i thought it would do, which is fire with no problems. then i fired 50 rounds of Blazer - no problem at all. then i fired about 70 rounds of Remington golden bullet, which i bought at walmart years ago.

the walther colt 1911 ate every round and did not misfire or fail to feed even one single time. i was throwing this cheap ammo at it to see if it would screw up and it did not! fine doggone .22 semi automatic pistol. i fired a couple of 12 round mags as fast as i could work the trigger and it didn't miss a step. i really want to get my wife out one day and try this pistol! i think she'll like it.

i also fired my SW model 65 for the first time. i carried a 686 on my job for years and when i shot the 65, it felt so good to feel that big(ger) gun buck in my hands! i couldn't hit much with it, but it was fine to feel.

i for sure got some gunsmoke in my blood today and it feels like coming home.

I wasn’t even aware Walther made a 1911 style .22. Neat!
It may actually be GSG (now a division of Walther) and only uses the Colt name under license.
Much like the "HK 416" they make in .22lr.

Maybe. European tradename & trademark rules are obscure at best.

Smallest caliber Colt currently has on its own page is 32acp.

whatever it is, it shoots really good!

Great to hear about a good day at the range. Those 1911 -22s are a kick. I had the GSG and did well with it but my son decided he really wanted it. I've been searching for a new one for over a year.

If they are now a division of Walther I'll have to check them out.

Glad your party had a "great day"! BUT, rule #1 is gun safety. Firing on propane tanks, empty or full could have been a disaster for those nearby. Please be careful. Have a great day, every day! Fireball

The "Colt" M1911 in 22 is made by Walther. And the warranty service is by Walther USA. They had some marked "Gold Cup" as well. A few of my buddies and I bought them when they came out. It's a fun pistol. It replaced my Walther P22 as my main suppressor host.
Whenever I teach a novice, I take my Taurus 22 revolver and the Colt 22. Today I took my 9yo daughter out to the range for the first time. It was a great range day.

That's about all I do anymore is plinking. I don't try to compete anymore, I just like relaxed shooting. I was at the range whit a buddy & his wife, he was shooting clays that he placed on the back berm on the 100 yd range. He was shooting them when he asked what are you shooting at? I told him I was shooting at the left over pieces. LOL
I could hit the ones about the size of a quarter without missing with my 5.56x 45 AR.
Everyone needs a good day at the range once in a while.
