ACCOKEEK, MD (October 08, 2007) — Beretta today announced that is has received documentation from the Italian ‘Banco di Prova’ that three Beretta PX4 Storm pistols had 30,000 rounds (10,000 per pistol) fired through them with ZERO defects during a specialized ballistic test conducted on behalf of the German State Police. The Italian Banco di Prova, an Italian proof house that oversees and certifies testing for firearms, did the actual testing last month.

This independent testing is further proof of how the Px4 Storm series of pistols truly represents the next generation of handguns, providing a new threshold of durability and reliability for the Law Enforcement and Defense communities.

“The Px4 Storm not only offers Law Enforcement professionals incredible versatility by allowing the operator to fit the gun to his or her hands through any combination of backstraps, controls size and location, actions and calibers, but this pistol offers unprecedented reliability and durability regardless of the Law Enforcement operator and conditions,” stated Matteo Recanatini, Marketing Manager, LE/Defense Division. “While we are very pleased with the results of the international testing, we are not surprised by them. This is a very reliable firearm.”

For anyone not wanting a "hammer-less gun" but one with a hammer and DA/SA with a safety, or with a decocker-only, or a DAO, at a mid price range for a NIB gun, make sure and take a look and feel of one of these beauty's.

I've only got 5300 rounds thru my Px4 40cal, but they have flown to target without ANY failures.

Also, one of the EASIEST guns to field strip, inspect, clean, reassemble, out there, bar none.

And, they are very forgiving in the area of felt-recoil with the rotating barrels, along with lack of cleaning, for an average proud owner.

Not like some of the range rentals that go a month ( maybe 1000's of rounds, and some being cheap reloads/dirty) before they're looked at, really cleaned, which as I said, takes but 1 min to disassemble, inspect, (especially the rotating barrel groove/slot and the main return spring housing that clks into the groove) to wipe clean and either re-oil, or apply some white gun grease, and a few run-throughs of the barrel with a bore-snake, and this gun is good to go.

FYI,

Glad to hear that the Px4 is superbly reliable. I handled this pistol in a store among others and it just fell asleep in my hand. I am just wondering when the .45 is coming out. It is on the web site but no one seems to have it.

Good to hear.

My PX-4, .40 has one of, if not the nicest DA trigger pulls of my DA/SA auto's. Thus, I enjoy shooting it quite a bit.

Jan 08 hopefully

...

That is what I last heard but they're going to start the release with 9mm's.

So, sometime down the road from Jan 08, dunno when, for a SC 45cal..

My Px4 .40cal has been great. I still have under 1000 rounds, but it has had zero problems so far. It is Reliable, has low recoil, great ergonommics and high capacity. It has replaced my Glock 17 as my main HD handgun.

You must try the PX4

I first held this pistol a little over a year ago but ended up buying in to the XD 45 craze. I thought the slide had too high of a profile, it just looked akward, and at $500, price wasn't a compelling reason. I didn't give the PX4 another thought until I saw some NIB for $420 at a gun show and couldn't resist. I chose the .40 with the safety/decocker.

At the range for the first time I was astounded. I had never shot a da/sa pistol that was so accurate. I was shooting 2" groups at 25 yds in a weaver stance. It was also the softest shooting .40 I have ever shot. There must be something to that rotating barrel system.

I really believe the PX4 is the ultimate polymer pistol. And yes I have Glocks, I have an XD, I have an HK, S&W Sigmas etc. I am not bashing any of them as I beleive they are all quality pistols. Don't know about the FNP but I have heard they are outstanding, and I must trust anything with the same logo as my M249SAW in the service.

If you have given up on polymer pistols do yourself a favor and try a PX4. I am sold!

it is indeed a nice weapon, and the 9mm version will actually be my next purchase...

but... if you peruse the beretta forums (http://www.berettaforum.net/vb/) there are a lot of people saying that they had to replace the plastic guide rod with a stainless one because of it getting loose... its not expensive to get done and it makes the gun a hell of a lot harder to break

Maybe not quite true.. lol

...

Naw.. not true Mekender, it's a non-bearing part and it's a captured return=spring guide-rod, and God knows, maybe they tried to take the spring off to clean it, and that means, ya break it. And all that happened was some people somehow, why, I don't know, popped out the plastic end-cap, the wrong way and said it was then busted, when the gun would continue to work fine without the end cover-cap. But they weren't buying that, and claimed their guns were broken.

My Px4, with the original plastic rod and captured return-spring, and the cover-cap, have gone 5300 rounds without any failures of any kind.. nada.

But, sooner than later, I intend to get a stainless steel "uncaptured" rod, from Steve Bedair, so replacing the return spring, up the road, will be a simple take out the old, and put in the new, spring, instead of buying a new plastic rod with a captured return-spring from Beretta, when one can opt for other makes of return springs.

Just a better set up for the long run with the gun and changing out worn return springs, going Stainless Steel along with "uncaptured" return spring/rod.
