An AR pistol (with brace) in 5.7x28 using P90 magazines, anyone?

I find myself gravitating more towards braced pistols, perhaps subconsciously concerned about availability after the next election.

Last month, I purchased a Black Aces Pro S Series semi-auto shotgun with 10" barrel.
A couple days from now, I'll be picking up a Palmetto State Armory AK-V and I'm sure I'll be happy with it as well. However I'd like to see what else is out there while they're still "out there" and available.

I recall seeing an advertisement a while ago for an AR-style rifle that took FN P90 50-round magazines that mounted flush across the top much like a P90 and ejected out the magazine well.

Does anyone make a braced pistol version of this, with... let's say a barrel of 10" or there abouts? My search so far has come up empty.

My next purchase will likely be a PSA AKP, but should I find such a pistol as described above, it will most certainly cut to the front of the line.

Thanks in advance!

That sounds like the AR57. The company is also called AR57 and they’re out of Kent, WA, which is near the first gun shop I worked at. They make full rifles chambered in 5.7 using AR-15 lowers and proprietary uppers. They take PS90 mags. They also offer uppers by themselves, but it seems they currently only list 16” uppers on their website and no longer make shorter uppers, so you’d have to have it cut down.

Their website says they’ve temporarily halted production, but they don’t say why. My guess is they’re having a hard time selling their product; other than the coolness factor of being able to modify an AR-15 magazine and have all your empties eject into it, I don’t see any advantages to a 5.7 AR over a 5.56. We carried them at that shop, but they didn’t sell well at all.

I had a PS90, which is a great little gun, and I really liked the 5.7x28 cartridge. It performs well out to about 150yds, and is very quiet compared to a 5.56. After a friend of mine got a Franklin Armory AR15 pistol with a binary trigger a couple of years ago I decided I wanted the same thing in 5.7x28. I sold the PS90, bought an AR57 rifle, a virgin AR57 lower, and all the other parts I'd need including an AR57 full auto bolt, Fostech Echo trigger, and the last 12" barrel that AR57 had in stock. 12" is the minimum barrel length to work with the PS90 mags because they are so long.
I'd like to be able to tell you how well it works but I haven't gotten back around to finishing the project. The AR57 rifle is accurate and reliable and fun to shoot but you don't need so much gun for the little 5.7x28 cartridge, another reason for wanting to put together a more compact version. That and the fact that you cannot have loaded long guns in your vehicle where I live, but you can have loaded handguns. I pictured the AR57 pistol as a nice, compact travel package. I'll be getting the gun finished over the winter, when it's done I'll post up pics and a range report.

This is the AR57 rifle, you can see why the shortest barrel you could use to do a pistol would be 12", just the flash hider would be protruding from the forearm.
