I'm budgeting for one large, very high quality firearm purchase in the next two months. I currently have a Walther PP in .32 for CCW and a Mosin Nagant M-39 for my main rifle. I'm interested in shifting the Walther to pocket pistol and getting a 9x19 for CCW due to ammo cost and to have the same feed source as my wife who has a 92F. I also would like a big rifle for a possible brownie bear visitor. The 7.62x54R is good, but not mangum class. Anyway the choices I have in mind are:

Sig 225 for $500

or

CZ ZKK in .375 H&H for $650

Both are excellent firearms by all reports, worth the money. But both cost quite a bit. Thus my problem.

Where do you live?

The PP may be a bit small, but it's still *A GUN*, and you know what the first rule of a gunfight is! :) A 9mm is a much better idea for carry, but not if you leave it at home.

How reliable is your MN? A friend of mine has one, and while it's a fun gun, it is difficult to chamber sometimes, and the bolt can stick. I would not trust my life to it.

7.62x54 may not be 'magnum' cal, and .375H&H sure is a leg up, but in both cases, your life is going to depend on you making a well placed shot under pressure.

The short answer: get both! :D

The long answer: which are you more likely to run into, get that first, then get the other gun. Sounds like you have a need for both.

Thanks for the input! My issue with the PP isn't so much size as cartridge expense. Winchester Silvertips are $$$, and that's what this PP loves to eat. I've already got tons of 9x19 around.

The M-39 feeds without any problems. It's a Finn, not a Ruskie.

Right now I'm leaning toward the ZKK, but we shall see. Either the ZKK or the CZ would be a lifetime weapon, I'm sure. Quality is superlative with both.
