An untapped market for AWB states?

"...can't keep Ruger Gunsite Scouts, Ruger Precision Rifles, and other quasi-tactical bolt guns in stock."

That's going to be an interesting trend.

AR's (and AK's, ...) were deliberately selected for vilification because of their looks. At the time - 1990ish - 'hunting guns' had wood stocks, and the 'assault weapons' didn't. That's why the objection was always to ARs, not Garands. But those lines are fast disappearing - you can get FNARs, for example, with or without pistol grips. You can get bolt guns that look a lot 'scarier' than a wood stocked Mini-14, etc. It's going to keep getting harder for people to use appearance to carve out a small enough group of rifles to feasibly ban.

Show someone who is not a gun person these two rifles and ask them which "makes them uncomfortable" and which is "an assault weapon." I bet 90% will point at the bolt gun...

Bolt guns don't even enter into the equation for me, mostly because I'm a lefty. Lever guns and pumps don't have "sides."

Just as an FYI, the Gunsite Scout does come in a left-handed version. I'd personally still rather have a pump, but defense-oriented lefty bolt guns do exist.

Keeping guns that you lawfully purchased in one state in the house of someone else who lives in a different state is fraught with potential problems. Please see this thread from the Legal forum:
https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...n-loaning-storing-and-moving-firearms.811295/

Since this question seems to come up with some regularity, there are a dozen or more threads in the Legal forum addressing the storage and loaning of guns across state lines.
