Anaconda Frame Size Q

How does a Colt Anaconda frame size compare to a Smith? N frame? Bigger, smaller? Thanks, AC

I believe that it uses the old New Service frame which is just slightly larger than an N frame Smith.

The Anaconda uses Colt's Mk. V action and uses an enlarged King Cobra frame. IIRC the frame/model designation was AA. All of this is somewhat academic since Colt used basically the same lock work scaled to to frames size.

I have an Anaconda

and it fits perfectly into a Galco holster made for the Smith.

The Anaconda is Colt's "MM" frame. It's based on the Colt Trooper Mark III/Mark V/King Cobra design but is a significantly larger framed gun.

It does share the same grips with the Trooper Mark V and King Cobra.
