And So It Begins - .375 WSM Project

Just ordered the Redding dies, but may be waiting up to a year for delivery o_O

Anyone able to provide H2O grains for a 375WSM case so I can play around with Quickload to see how short of a barrel makes sense?

Really want to go 16" - obviously not trying to break any speed records, but also want to ensure full powder burn in the tube with a Lehigh 336gr pill at ~3.1" COAL.

I'd also be open to sending someone $10 to throw a formed 375WSM case in the mail to me

It does exactly the same things an H&H will do - that's the point. And it does those things 1.5-3 lbs lighter than any commercial CRF H&H (or Ruger):
......
I've at various times owned 3 of the above. I know I'd MUCH rather be carrying around a 20" rifle on a WSM action/sporter barrel than any of them. The downside of course is recoil, but it's not a huge difference.
I love the idea of WSM cartridges, but I'm not so sure about the notion of a 6 lb rifle with 375 ballistics and the resulting recoil. It's quite adequate in an 8 lb rifle.

The reasons to go .375 WSM are 1) short action 2) existing rifles with WSM feed geometry and 3) brass

Hornady is the only source of 375 Ruger brass, and they appear to do limited runs. There are at least five production sources and six brands of WSM brass: Winchester, Norma/Nosler, Federal, Hornady, and Bertram.

Regardless of any merits it may have, the .375 Ruger seems at least temporarily out of action due to ammo, component and rifle unavailability. A comeback may happen but the M77 being the primary rifle platform may hinder that.

I wanted my first THR post to be positive, and I love this thread.
On the subject of brass, Bertram Bullet Co. makse 375WSM headstamped brass now. I took delivery of 100pcs yesterday.
I know that Bertram have been making a push into the US market, so might be worth a look if you like, or need, correct headstamps.

My project is a takedown BLR which started life as a 300WSM.
Was going to do a 375Ruger, but the donor eluded me for over 12 months. Sure enough, 3 days after finalising the purchase of the 300WSM, a 300WM takedown comes up....Murphy at his finest.
Couldn't pass it up, so now the 300WM will eventually be turned into 416Ruger or 458African...gotta love projects.

Check the inside volume and the Wight of that bertram brass, the last batch I got was unusable and got sent back.

Will do, not expecting match-grade.
I have some of their other brass (358W) and am very happy with how it actually performs. I've had Winchester and Hornady brass with similar weight variances to the Bertram brass.

I'm not seeing it on their website. Did you have to email them directly for the 375WSM headstamped brass?

And of course I already bought 250 new 325WSM brass to convert... ‍o_O

The big change was Federal's release of the Edge TLR/Terminal Ascent with both incredible BCs and great terminal performance. They offered a heavy .308 and only a light .284. So for the time being the 7mm WSM is in the safe and the .300 WSM is up to bat. If the bullet situation changes again, it's possible I'll switch back. I certainly didn't sell my 7mm.

Any updates?
