Andres & Dworsky Xythos flare gun

I imagine that many of you are familiar with this little thing but it is new to me. My father in law brought it out over Christmas to show me and explained that he had forgot about it and stumbled across it while going through some stuff at the house. I was absolutely floored by this functioning little flare gun.

I still have a childhood pinfire breaktop noisemaker; think I fired the last cartridge years ago. Recall revolvers like Targas, that functioned with the same pinfire (4mm?) blanks.
The barrel on mine goes straight through. I've seen some with the vent bending down to the bottom of the barrel. Wouldn't want someone to assassinate an Archduke with a cobbled up 4mm pistol....
Targa, does that gun use 4mm blanks to ignite the flares?

I believe they are 2mm blanks ( I could be wrong). I haven‘t fired it, just got to look at it through its case… I think this was made in the late 50’s.

I vaguely remember ads for this, but never saw one firsthand. The name sure is cool though!

I remember my dad had one of these he kept on the boat in case of emergencies......never, ever saw him use it. He said it operated much like the M7 grenade launchers he used in WWII. It ended up getting stolen one night along with a bunch of fishing equipment, from where we had the boat docked overnight.
