Anyone know of an annealing machine that would work for super short cases? I have to case form a bunch of 45 ACP cases into 38/45 Clerke bottleneck cases. For those you unfamiliar with this dinosaur of a cartridge, it's 45 acp case necked down to hold .356/.357 bullets. There are 4 form dies to get it to do that so it's a real PIA! Annealing each case is a must or you just smoosh them.

I've been looking at all the different case annealing machines and none of them look like they'll do cases as short as .900. The AGS and Bench Source looked like my best bet but I just heard back from AGS and it was a no go. I'm betting Bench Source will be the same. I was looking to buy a machine anyway so I would like to get one that fill all my needs.

I would look at the homemade ones. There are discussions on here and many videos on youtube to watch. You could use a filler in the cake pan roller to get the necks out where you need them and remove it for longer brass. At any rate this works if you are handy.

I make mine just high enough off the base so tall cases can’t tip when indexed.

Lower it down to say, .80-.90 off the base and lower the torch arms all the way down and it looks like it would do what you want, on a 45 ACP case.
