I find it interesting to know just how many rounds I send downrange each year, so I keep track in an Excel spreadsheet.

It helps me predict my reloading and ammo inventory needs.

And while it's really not a surprise to me, I still have to smile a bit when I see that over the past 12 months I have sent downrange almost 11,000 rounds of centerfire handgun and just shy of 20,000 rounds of rimfire handgun.

And I only shoot paper.

How about you IPDA or IPSC folks?

Any of you keeping track of your annual round counts?

(also posted on FSN)

I also only shoot paper. For the last several years I've averaged right at 13k/year centerfire handgun. Highpower rilfe and shotgun are too few to even mention. Rimfire is almost uncountable, but it would be several multiples of my centerfire shooting.

There was a time I was shooting 1000+ rounds per range (about once a week) visit lately low due to time & budgetary restraints, I'm down to 8500 rounds a year give or take....Like everyone else here, I wish I spent more time shooting & less time talking about it! :D

You guys have too much money... :p I can't afford that many rounds. I shoot about 4000 per year centerfire. I wish I could do 4000 per week though. ;)

I shoot/reload enough to have filled up a federal case of 10mm empty box with spent primers in a little less than 6 years.and two years into a new case its a little over an inch deep.

I can't afford that many rounds. I shoot about 4000 per year centerfire.

Wheelweights...50/50 rope solder at 40:1...and bullet moulds is the solution to that problem. Works for me! If you can arrange for free wheelweights, by the time they're alloyed and lubed, you've got 2 cents apiece in 200-230 grain bullets.

where do you get the time, money, and energy to do that?

Retired...Multiple/identical moulds...A friend in the auto parts business who is owed favors by tire shop owners/managers...another friend who works at a plumbing supply and sells me the solder at cost.

If I run two 4-cavity gang moulds, I can cut 2500-3,000 bullets between 0600 and noon without breakin' a sweat.

Last year it was 18k of just .45acp, i am on track for that this year but the .40 gets in the way.
I started to keep track of the work ammo i go through, but i keep that book at work.
I go through the shooting tunnel and sift and clean all of the used lead and brass so i have a good supply of that.
We are buying a shot maker so we can load our own for the trap league, it makes 45 pounds an hour so it will cut into pistol loading a bit.

I send (maybe) 3 to 4 thousand rounds of centerfire handgun downrange annually. This is just an estimate.

EDIT: Actually, on second thought, I probably use more like 5K to 7.5K. Figuring 100 to 150 rounds a week (100x52 to 150x52).

Maybe 30k a year. Thats about 500 rounds of .22 and assorted center fire every week. Maybe more considering I have been going through at least 1 500 round .22 brick every time for the last 4 weeks or so.
