I have a Kimber CDP Pro that was smithed on a few years ago as part of a reliability package in preparation for carrying it. I set it aside for a revolver, and when I posted it here for sale a member brought to my attention that a polished feedramp on an aluminum framed pistol is not a happy thing! (Certainly doesn't help reliability!)

I'm looking to rectify the situation so I can sell the pistol in good faith. A member here recommended Chuck at Rogers Precision to do a steel ramp replacement. Unfortunately my emails to Mr. Rogers have gone unanswered, it looks like he's doing less smith work.

Can anyone proffer a reputable smith or shop to replace the ramp with a steel insert OR polish and re-adonize the frame?

drannor,

I just checked and found that I neglected to update my e-mail address.
It is:

[email protected]

Although use of the forum's e-mail feature led you to the incorrect address, both the correct address and my phone number are found at my web site.

I am very actively doing all the smithing that a one man shop could possibly do. However, I am currently devoting my time to preparing my exhibit for the SHOT Show in Las Vegas in the first week of February.
I also would suggest you contact EGW.

My apologies.

I attempted to correct my e-mail address.
Problem is that I have misplaced my password and retrieving that password is dependent upon the info being sent to my e-mail address!

Catch-22

It's a security "feature." You have to confirm via your old address that you indeed want to switch to the new address. If you left the forum logged in on a computer your attacker would be able to switch addresses and then do a lost password request to get your password emailed to the address he just switched to. If you are like most people (same password everywhere) then he would now have access to your email account and amazon account.

There are better designs out there to prevent that. Specifically lost passwords should be handled with security questions and a new password rather then giving you your old password via email.

Sorry about the OT and TMI

I'll check in with EGW, thanks for the recommendation folks.

Chuck, thanks for posting here and getting back to me. I was impressed with the work featured on your site and on a thread referencing the ramp replacement. I've been sitting on the pistol for months, hanging out awhile longer isn't going to hurt. Let me know if you are interested in the work down the line.

I sent an email to your cableone address back in October, I'll forward it on to you again. It's possible it was caught in a spam trap or something similar. Agree that the email reset functionality is trying, I've been in that situation before with other sites and applications. Best of luck at the SHOT show!

Contacted EGW, going to send the Kimber off to them for this work. Also an excuse to get my STI Edge hard chromed. :D
