Yup, I'm at ~ 5k now with M4A1 and it hasn't been cleaned...runs like a top and I use it weekly for convoys and other trips. No worries about it's reliability.

Aaah, the good old days when Wolf could be had for under $100 a case.
Hence why I haven't put more than 16K on it, a case of ammo is worth more than the upper is now.
As far as Ol Dirty, where do you think I got my inspiration

Even if you can get by without cleaning your weapon, why would you? During the cleanup you can spot inspect the parts to assure you aren't going to have a malfunction.
I never shot more than 150 rounds through my AR before cleaning, and none of them were at a fast pace. Semi auto won't cure poor aiming. You still gotta get a good sight picture and all that or it is simply a wasted round.

here we go again. someone always has to through the AR vs the AK. and everybody seems to have rifles that are 10 times better then the last guy. as said above, why wouldnt you clean your guns??? just seems stupid. sometimes i dont clean them that same day, but i never go more than 2 days without a serious cleaning. i can clean my AR in bout half an hour, and thats a really good cleaning. cleaning is the best way to look over your firearm, and inspect it for SAFETY!
as to AR's going a long time between cleanings, read PATRICK SWEENYS excerpt about stag arm rifles in the latest AR15 magizine posted by RIFLE SHOOTER. he went through his training class with 4000 rounds WOLF POLOMYER PERFORMANCE ammo. he says that between him and his buddy, 8,000 rounds total, only had three or four malfunctions. this is with a very little cleaning at night. its a good excerpt to read.
even the taliban cleans there AK's, so i think that we should to. they are not a magical weapon.

Even our AR's at work as abused as they get on the range still get good cleaning's. Mind you that we are talking almost a case of ammo in a day while at the range. None the less after the range session they are taken down and cleaned well. Even to the point where they will pass a police armorer's inspection. And those are some decent specs to have to get down too.
Will a rifle still shoot with a lot of rounds through it and being dirty. Sure it will. Is it a good idea from a safety stand point. Not really nor is it good for weapon reliability. JMHO
