Had to play into the trend here a bit!! ANyway I recently came across some 9mm critical defense, 50 grain leadless hollow points. Claiming 2000 fps, wither superior performance than other defense hp ammo on market. Anyone have any experience with these?? I thought they were normal hp, picked up the box, and it was so light I thought it was empty. Then read the info on box. Just curious if anyone has experience?

I think you're missing 0.10" and 180grs :neener:

But that aside, I have had good luck with lead free copper hunting bullets on deer. Seem to expand pretty well, but the lack of weight concerns me

LOL cant argue with that! Yeah the light weight is what concerns me too. Never heard of these prior.

I bet they are great home defense ammo! Fast moving and light, and obviously hollow point! The slower moving heavier bullets that handguns usually shoot have a tendency to go through walls like nothing is there. Just my 2 cents.

That is what I was thinking is home defense if less over penetration through walls, etc.

If you are reading about Hornady Critical Defense ammo then you can read some about it here at Shooting Illustrated review...

http://www.shootingillustrated.com/index.php/14881/hornady-critical-defense/

this article seems to give a fairly decent review of the product and it's claims.

There are a number of threads about it which you can look up.

If you are speaking of another brand or type of ammo most have been discussed on this forum at one time or another and "search" will help.

I dont think its the Hornady as it is much lighter than those on the link @ 50 grain 9mm. May have to pick up a box and give themm a try for grins!! Thanks for the search suggestion folks I will give the other treads a look.
