First it was the .30 TC, a short action .30-06, wow, how innovative. Now, I see a show on outdoor channel where they're pushing the ".308 Marlin", think it is, Hornady loads it with the lever evolution bullets. That part of it is pretty revolutionary, I guess. But, there was the .307 Winchester. Anyone ever hear of the .307 winchester? Yeah, guess what, .308 ballistics in a lever gun. Hmmmmmmm. Of course, my buddy was hunting with his .308 Browning BLR 30 years ago, but I guess that's another story. :banghead:

Well, deal is I guess, they had to re-shape the case a smidge to be able to label it as ".308 Marlin". Wouldn't be good to have a new lever evolution round and a Marlin rifle chambered for .307 WINCHESTER, I guess. Whatever. I like Marlin rifles. All this re-inventing the wheel just sorta gets stupid after a while, LOL.

If I wanted a .308 lever gun, I'd get the BLR in .308, though. Used military brass in 7.62x51 for reloading ain't likely to dry up anytime soon and it's dirt cheap in bulk.

How about the .348? Had the .358 and .338 beat in 1936... And also levergun friendly.

A lot of the Fudds don't realize that knowing how to shoot theirr 20 year old .30-.06 is more important than having an exotic caliber.

There are way too many rifle calibers in my opinion. I'll stick with .308.
