"American Rifleman" had an article on the new TC "Icon" bolt rifle, nice lookin' rifle, and the new caliber for it, ".30 TC". It's described as a short action cartridge with .30-06 ballistics. WOW, how innovative. :rolleyes: Where have I heard this story before? They give 150 grain velocities at 2900+, just shy of 3K fps out of a 24 inch barrel. Wow, whadda break through!

</sarcasm>

I think I'll keep my M7 Stainless in .308, thanks.

LOL

I wish I'd have picked up a stainless 7 a few years ago. What's with the new prices on that thing, anyway?

I'd like a compact rifle, but Remington is chasing me to their competitors faster than a speeding .260

Really like the looks of the walnut on that new Icon. Can't say I'm that crazy about the skeletonized "cocking piece" cover or the Super Blackhawk style triggerguard. Frankly, I've always preferred the old 1917 Enfield "dogleg" bolt when it comes to weird bolt designs,too (vs. that "butterknife" thing). Yeah, 30 TC. An answer to a question that was already answered 100 years ago (30-06) and 50 years ago (308). Oh, and I think the 300 Savage answered it, too!

Well, the whole intent of the .308 was to match 150 grain .30 06 ball ballistics in a short cartridge, sorta having flash backs reading that article. LOL

I got my M7 free. I won a .25/06 BDL in a door prize raffle at a gun show and traded it for the M7. Been wanting one since the first came out in stainless. I LOVE that thing! My other rifles have collected dust for the last 10 years. It did cost me 300 bucks in scope and mounts, of course, but how could I refuse a free rifle? :D
